This is a research-based program designed to heighten awareness about trauma-related substance abuse and to provide ideas and guidance to help mitigate the effects of trauma and abuse of alcohol and drugs. Research shows that because of a traumatic event, a person is five to six times more likely to drink alcohol, smoke or use/abuse drugs, even six to 18 months after the event. Our mission is to heighten awareness about the trauma-substance abuse dynamic, and to help people build protective factors to avoid it. The program is a resource to help professionals and the general public understand the critical dynamics of trauma induced substance abuse and how to help prevent it from happening. Youth are especially vulnerable to this dynamic and special care needs to be presented to youth who have experienced trauma or a catastrophic event.

Hours: Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fees Charged: There is no fee for consultations.

How to Access Services: The best way to contact the agency is by telephone.
